Seek The New

Elsha l dead possum
With many accolades up her sleeves, Elsje Jordan from Brisbane, Australia is a keen observer of life from which she draws inspiration. Her involvement in fashion began at an early age, whilst still in school, attending night classes in drawing, pattern making and design. Her first ready to wear collection as one of Australia's top, up and coming designers.

The Lost Girls collection by elsha l dead possum was inspired by the contrast between childhood and adulthood, and the question; where did we find the willingness to grow up, and stay “grownup”?

This collection represents a backwards Peter Pan, and a dark innocence that we claim in adulthood which separates us forever from our childish imaginations and fantasies.

With the originally designed ‘Universe print’, soft flowing chiffons and long fringing look, Elsha l dead possum debut range has a personal touch.

Also evident in the collection is the film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’, a 1975 film about an all girls school, where several students and a teacher disappear mysteriously from Hanging Rock, a large and enchanting rock formation in Victoria. It is suggestive, and cultist with implied sexuality rolling off the girls like heat waves under their long white dresses.

Playful yet endearing, features such as the long fringing, are like vines in a forest, and the tiny black petals add a delicate
touch to bold simple shapes.

Double georgette and chiffon are used to lengthen and trend set the pieces, while used as gathers and flounces give an almost wing-like effect. As if at any moment, you could fly to Neverland, leaving the grey working weak, and become a modern lost girl.

Beatriz Vázquez
Born in the birth place of Salvador Dalí, in the city of Figueres, Spain, Beatriz Vázquez never fails to mention the artistic influence of the genius that is, Salvador Dalí.

"METALS IN DECADENCE" speaks of countercultural music,
punk, grunge, rock in general and of the stages of life. The collection reflects a vision and world of it's own. A world which in their eyes is hysterical, frantic, mad and where nonsense is a fraud.

The system today causes us anxiety, sadness, anger, rage and vulnerable to adversity. We create armor, shields to protect against everything, even against us.

Leather, which represents an extension of ourselves, a skin
that tans hardens around us to protect the world.

"METALS IN DECADENCE", intended as a metaphor for the stages of life and being. Life in the beginning, is as precious as
gold. It is bright. With the passage of  time it hardens, just like  our being. It loses it's clamor and brightness with as our life ages. All idealism is lost as it's precious form becomes
decadent.

As the very being, pure, clean and without malice in its infancy, slave fears, memories and ghosts in the twilight of their existence. Armor, like everything in life, gleaming in its earliest origins  to  finish  worn,  dirty  and  dull like  copper, so  the difference of three primary colors, three metals: gold, silver and copper. Heavy-metals that are combined with the wear of life, with bleach (tie & dye)to symbolize what was and what still lives in clothingsuch as armor wounds .

" El que ha dañado a un ser en un pasado, le otorga fuerzas para triunfar en un futuro. Porque del dolor, nacen las cosas más bellas e inexplicables y del sufrimiento los pensamientos más maravillosos".
"He who has hurt a human being in the past, gives him the power and strength for future success. Because the most beautiful and inexplicable things are born from the pain and suffering lets the most wonderful thoughts fly away."
